Apostolos Kamarinakis, CEO of the Elefsis Port Authority, was recently appointed president of the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME) for a two-year term, succeeding Athanasios Liagkos, executive chairman of the Thessaloniki Port Authority.
ELIME’s board was also restructured, signaling a fresh leadership phase.
Mr. Apostolos Kamarinakis, brings extensive international experience in transport, shipping, and logistics from senior roles in both the public and private sectors. At Elefsis Port Authority, he has focused on modernizing services, upgrading infrastructure, promoting environmental responsibility, and attracting strategic investments.
He holds a Civil Engineering degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a postgraduate specialization in Port Management and Development. His technical expertise and strategic outlook align with ELIME’s goals for sustainable growth in Greek ports.
In his inaugural address, Kamarinakis highlighted continuity and collaboration.
“ELIME plays a crucial role in shaping national port policy,” he said. “I am committed to listening, working together, and finding solutions to strengthen the global competitiveness of Greek ports.”
The new ELIME Board is:
– President: Apostolos Kamarinakis (CEO, Elefsis Port Authority)
– 1st Vice President: Panagiotis Tsonis (Deputy CEO, Piraeus Port Authority)
– 2nd Vice President: Ioannis Tsaras (CEO, Thessaloniki Port Authority)
– Secretary General: Sokratis Anagnostou (CEO, Volos Port Authority)
– Financial Auditor: Giorgos Vakondios (CEO, Lavrio Port Authority)
Outgoing President Athanasios Liagkos was honored for his leadership, which strengthened ELIME’s influence on port policy. In recognition, he was presented with an honorary plaque and named Honorary President of ELIME by unanimous vote.
